Pre-service teacher development
The Penreach Intern Teacher Training (ITT) Programme aims to offer a work-in-learning (WIL experience) at functional public schools for pre-service teachers who are completing university degrees by distance education. Selected or participating schools play an important role in developing quality teachers in the Foundation Phase, Intermediate and Senior Phase and the Senior and FET Phase. The ITT programme not only allows for the practical learning component of teaching, but adds the dimensions of professionalism and socio-emotional skills as well as digital skills – all critical for the 21st Century teacher.
We have partnered with Global Teacher Initiative (GTI) and Thandulwazi Maths & Science Academy in Mpumalanga and Limpopo Provinces to place Foundation Phase and Grade 4 Maths teachers at primary schools
