Cure Day Hospitals And Penreach Bring Joy To Hundreds Of Children Through Stationery Pack Donation

Lehau – Hundreds of children’s eyes lit up with excitement when Penreach and Cure Day Hospitals, Mbombela, recently paid a surprise visit to some of Penreach’s 200 Toy Libraries in Mpumalanga. Armed with 400 stationery packs generously donated by Cure Day Hospitals, the team brought smiles and joy to the children who eagerly received their new supplies – a luxury many of them cannot afford.

This initiative forms part of Cure Day Hospitals’ Back-to-School campaign and reflects a shared vision of educational excellence for One and All. It also supports the ongoing Penreach Cares Campaign.

“At Cure Day Hospitals, we believe in giving back to the communities we serve. Partnering with Penreach allows us to invest in the future of our children,” said Mmamoko Lamola, Human Resources Manager of Cure Day Hospitals.

According to Johanri de Jager, Communication and Partnership Manager at Penreach, the Penreach Toy Library is a community and volunteer-based initiative that offers children a safe space to visit after school and during school holidays to play and learn. The Toy Libraries provide access to age-appropriate reading materials, fostering literacy and educational development.

“The rural communities that Penreach supports are economically disadvantaged, and many families cannot afford to buy the toys or books necessary to stimulate development in children. In fact, one in three children in South Africa has zero access to toys or books. Our Toy Libraries not only promote literacy but also serve as a safe haven for children after school, acting as an aftercare facility for those whose parents are at work and unable to provide supervision,” said De Jager.

“We are truly blessed to have phenomenal businesses and organisations like Cure Day Hospitals, who not only believe in our vision but also actively contribute to making it a reality,” De Jager added. “Partnerships like these empower us to reach more children and provide them with the tools they need to thrive academically.”
